Jamison & Einstein Win First Place in Business Plan Competition

Justin & Brooks

Justin Jamison and Brooks Einstein were honored with a first place award in the Green Products Business Plan Writing Competition. Their business plan was for a local organic milk processing facility. They explained that the majority of organic milk that is produced in Maine is shipped out of state for processing. Their business plan would create a local facility to distribute the products locally. This would help reduce the carbon footprint associated with buying organic milk by reducing the distribution distances and costs.

Justin and Brooks used their expertise in agricultural sciences and management respectively synergistically to develop an integrated business plan. Their cash prize will be used to refine and complete their business plan. The Dairy farmer who collaborated on this project has indicated a willingness to back the project.

They believe that their success in the competition was due to the comprehensiveness of the business plan. A lesson learned was that a new business does not have to include a revolutionary new concept, but rather a solid, well-thought-out plan. This was a great learning experience, which they recommend to all MBA students. The competition is held every year by the Innovation Center.
